In Season Demo with Agrarian Sharing Network
April 20 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
This Saturday we’re welcoming Kevin Prier from the Agrarian Sharing Network to the Market! Kevin will be demonstrating fruit tree grafting from 11am to 12pm inside the Pavilion. Grafting is the process of taking a fruit tree cutting (scion) from a desired fruit variety and attaching it to healthy roots from a different variety. The “rootstock” generally has good disease resistance, but not necessarily desirable fruit. The grafted trees from the demo will be available by donation to the Agrarian Sharing Network.
The Agrarian Sharing Network is a group of devoted plant enthusiasts who have been putting on Spring Propagation Fairs in the area for over 20 years. They offer hundreds of varieties of fruit tree scion for free, plus rootstock at cost and grafting by donation, as well as a large selection of free vegetable, flower, and herb seeds. There are currently fairs in Cave Junction, Williams, Cottage Grove, Sweet Home, Corvallis, Springfield, and Eugene, generally in March and early April. It is an all-volunteer group, running exclusively by donations. If you would like to get involved, email info@agrariansharing.net
